Herbicide labels sometimes specify PPM of active ingredient for spot spraying. This converts to product milliliters for your tank — label rate always wins if they disagree.
How to use this calculator
- Enter tank volume.
- Enter target PPM.
- Enter active %.
- Get mL.
The formula
Same active-fraction math as pesticide mixing.
What the inputs mean
The target is the concentration you want, in PPM. The volume is how much liquid you are treating. The active ingredient (%) corrects for product strength, because most products are not 100% active ingredient. The result tells you exactly how much herbicide product to add.
Worked example
15 L, 2,000 PPM, 41% glyphosate: 2,000 × 15 ÷ 1,000 ÷ 0.41 ≈ 73 mL.
Quick reference
| Tank | mL for 2,000 PPM (41% prod) |
|---|---|
| 10 L | 49 mL |
| 15 L | 73 mL |

Where you will actually use this
Spot-spray accuracy saves chemical and money.
- Spot spraying
- Fence lines
- Turf weed control
Mistakes that give wrong answers
- Spray drift onto desirable plants
- Wrong nozzle/pressure
Key takeaways
- Formula: Product (mL) = Target PPM × Spray volume (L) ÷ 1,000 ÷ active fraction
- Remember: Verify against label.
- Watch out for: Spray drift onto desirable plants
- Next step: run your own numbers in the calculator above, then verify with a measurement — calculated values are only as good as the inputs.
